In a recently published MLN Matters, CMS releases info that they will be no longer requiring the KH modifier on purchased capped rental items & para/enteral services as of October 2018. This is indicated in CR10422. Does that mean they would expect only an 'RR' the first rental month, but still use KI's & KJ's in subsequent months? Stay tuned as we clarify and make the change in HDMS!   CLARIFICATION RECEIVED! KH modifiers will continue to be needed on capped rentals, but WILL NOT BE NEEDED if you are going to sell the item as a purchase in the first month.
