HDMS Prescriptions upgrading to 2D barcodes in 4.0

HDMS Prescriptions are being upgraded to 2D barcodes in version 4.0!

As you know, barcodes are a concise way to pass information, and 2D barcodes offer far more storage in a small space than previous technology. 2D barcodes form a square, and are often referred to as a QR code.

The 4.0 version will only change CMN/Prescriptions, not any of your inventory barcoding.

2D barcodes allow us to pack more information into a small space. Specifically, we will add information like CMN ID, which would allow our automated job handler who may be sending and receiving prescriptions outside of HDMS in your environment to work smart enough to find draft versions of a returned document.

Ahead of releasing HDMS v4.0 and taking any updates, we encourage you to reach out to your imaging vendor like ImageSoft (OnBase), Medforce, or Intellivue to be sure that their solution will cooperate. If you're using StowPoint, you don't have to call your vendor ;)

Here is a printable example of a DMERC style CMN with a 2D barcode:

The 4.0 version will only change CMN/Prescriptions, not any of your inventory barcoding.
